From looking at a few ranking sites, I have the following impression of the two schools.

UT Austin has a smaller faculty yet a higher research rating than Michigan. Michigan graduate students generally get better (higher and more likely) funding than UT Austin students. I really have no gauge as to which school has higher regards in academia.

I would appreciate any feedback about these two schools.

Sorry if this question is offensive to anyone in these schools or for ignorance. I just really want any helpful information I can get about these programs.

Actually, refined people find any use of the phrase "University of Michigan" to be offensive. :-)
