Hello all,

This semester, I am teaching a class about meta heuristic algorithm (GA, ant colony, SA, PSO, Tabu search, ...). I am wondering if there is any solver or software for meta heuristic algorithm. The only way is the implementation?

Thank you.

There are several solver that use metaheuristics:

  • OptaPlanner (open source, java): Tabu Search, Simulated Annealing, Late Acceptance, Local Search, FFD, BF, B&B, ...
  • LocalSolver (proprietary): Local Search, ...
  • OpenTS (open source, java): Tabu Search, but I think this project is dead
  • HeuristicLab (open source, .NET)

If you are willing to do some Java coding, I can recommend Watchmaker Framework for GAs.

It's very good! I will try that. Thank you!!! And is there any solver for Benders decomposition for stochastic programming? At informs annual 2016 at Nashville,TN last month, I was looking for a solver for stochastic programming, but I couldn't find one.

You should take a look at some of the COIN-OR projects (https://www.coin-or.org/projects/).
