I have completed my masters in Operations Research but i have not studied much about transportation problem. I want to chose transportation problem as my research field. Please suggest me some books or Research papers which can help me in making a strong background of Transportation Problem.

I think these books are appropriate for start:

  1. Dantzig G.B.Linear Programming and Extensions.
    -- Princeton: Princeton University press, 1963, and
  2. Dantzig G.B., Thapa M.N. Linear Programming 1: Introduction.
    -- Springer, 1997.

Have a look at Network Flows: Theory, Algorithms, and Applications, Ahuja et al. they approach Transportation/network flow problems from a graph perspective.
